Local Band to open for National Act
Hazleton, Pennsylvania - Monsters of Rock, based just outside Hazleton announced that it has accepted an invitation to open for national recording artists Eric Brittingham and Jeff Labar of the popular 80's metal band Cinderella, who have joined forces with national recording act Naked Beggars.
According to the band bio on the Naked Beggars website, the band was co-founded by Inga Brittingham, wife of Cinderella bassist Eric Brittingham, and lead vocalist for the band.
Monsters of Rock drummer, Vick Lutsky explained, "the opportunity arose quite accidentally. Definitely one of those right place - right time situations."
"We got a phone call from Mike Gladdau, the owner of Goodfellas Entertainment Warehouse in Pottsville. Mike was negotiating a last minute opportunity to book Naked Beggars in late April and needed an opening act. He thought an 80's tribute band would be perfect for the occasion."
Lutsky continued, "Mike happens to own a vending machine company and was changing out a machine somewhere and our business card happened to be stuck on the machine staring him right in the face! We've been getting a lot of attention from Frackville to Mahanoy City and someone apparently left our card somewhere."
"This is a great opportunity for these guys", said Goodfellas owner Mike Gladdau, "to get into one of the largest club venues in Schuylkill County. We only take a handful of bands into our rotation, and the Monsters of Rock are willing to work with us as an opener, we're going to give them a shot on their own."
"While the event was originally scheduled for April 29th", continued Gladdau, "we've had to make some adjustments. Due to some contractual issues Eric and Jeff can not tour with Naked Beggars until after the upcoming Rock Never Stops Tour, which Cinderella is headlining."
"We're actively working with the bands and talking with management to try to work something out sooner, and one way or the other, the Monsters are going to get their shot at this."
Monsters of Rock includes local musicians Vick Lutsky, Cindie Ortiz, Mark Hydock, and Ian Whitcomb, as well as Reading area guitar phenom Ron Czarnecki and bassist Brian Weinhold.
Monsters of Rock has headlined several shows in recent months, including Winterfest 2005, held at Eagle Rock Resort last month. You can find them on the web at: http://www.MonstersOfRock.info where you'll also find links to Naked Beggars and Cinderella.
In the mean time, Hazleton area music fans can see the Monsters of Rock show, on April 29th at Cousins North Side Bar, in their first downtown Hazleton appearance since First Night Hazleton!
