Air Guitar Competition to be held in Downtown Hazleton
Hazleton, Pennsylvania – Closet Air Guitar players will have a chance to compete next week at a competition geared specifically to these unsung hero’s of rock n roll!
As defined by wikipedia.org, in part, “Air Guitar is the act of pretending to play guitar, consisting of an exaggerated strumming motion… Air Guitar is generally used in the imaginary simulation of loud electric guitar music, especially rock, heavy metal, and so on. Headbanging is often used in conjunction with an air guitar.”
According to Monsters of Rock spokesperson Vick Lutsky, “there is an entire sub-culture based around this imaginary, but inherently fun instrument.”
Lutsky, drummer for the local 80’s tribute band, is, himself a closet air guitar fan. “If I weren’t so invested as a drummer, I’d go on the road as an air guitarist!”, joked Lutsky, who’s band is sponsoring the upcoming competition at Cousins North Side Bar, on April 29th.
A quick search of on line search engine Google, produces hundreds of thousands of articles about the air guitar culture. “In fact”, continues Lutsky, “there are dozens of different businesses that have cropped up to support the art of the air guitar. Competitions not withstanding, there are clothing lines, websites, lessons and more, all available with a few clicks!”
Seriously, this competition is all about having some fun with our fans. Our music is borne out of the screaming guitars of the 1975 to 1995 era, which is where this fad got its footing. Fans from 25 to 45 can enjoy the show and the competition equally, as they try to keep pace with Monsters of Rock guitar phenom Ron Czarnecki.
You can register for the event April 23rd at the Golden Cue. Only a limited number of registrations will be accepted for the event which is scheduled for April 29th at Cousins North Side Bar in downtown Hazleton.
Monsters of Rock has headlined several shows in recent months, including First Night Hazleton and Winterfest 2005.
